8 Good Careers For People With ADHD

best jobs for people with adhd

Living with ADHD can make certain tasks more difficult and tasking than usual, this can make choosing careers for people with ADHD a tad difficult.

However, what is considered a weakness in people living with ADHD can also be their greatest strengths especially when applied to the right careers.

A good career for people living with a career will allow them to flourish and showcase their creative prowess.

Keeping that in mind here are 8 careers for people with ADHD.

Good Careers For People With ADHD

1. Teacher

People with ADHD thrive in environments that allow them to be creative and spontaneous and teaching is one of those environments.

Teaching kids and preteens is best as their curriculum usually contains a ton of creative and fun activities.

So as a person with ADHD, you will be able to flourish.

If your ADHD does not allow you to focus on one particular task for a long time, teaching kindergarteners will be a perfect option for you.

You can easily switch from task to task and the babies would not notice (how could they).

Teaching also allows you to inculcate as many fun and creative activities into your daily routine that you and your students would love.

2. Artist

There are only a few roles more creative than the job of an artist. This is one of the best careers for people with ADHD.

You are your boss, you get to move at your own pace and you are your creative director.

This job is one of the best ways to channel your inner Leonardo da Vinci and make good money.

Working as an artist allows you to do what you love, and make money without the stress that comes with a regular 9 – 5.

The best thing is there are different kinds of art, there is pop art, abstract art, contemporary art, and sculpture making.

3. Beautician

This is one of the best careers for people with ADHD who are passionate about beauty.

As a beautician, you will be providing beauty treatments to people.

This involves feet, hand, body, and face treatments. A beautician is also a makeup artist.

There are so many branches under the beautician tree, you don’t have to know all and be perfect, you just have to be good at a few.

Pick the branches that allow you to be your full creative self.

As a beautician, you would have to deal with a variety of clients, so you are allowed to be as creative as you would like.

Although patience is a virtue you would need as clients can be a bit overbearing.

 4. Creative Writer

If words are your greatest strength then creative writing might just be the best career for you.

Paired with an unimaginably powerful imagination, creative writing would make a great career choice for writers with ADHD.

You can write poems, short stories, books, scripts, etc…. whichever one seems like the best outlet for your creative spirit.

If you are not sure which ones you would be good at, do not hesitate to try out as many types of writing as possible.

Find the one you like the most and are good at and stick to it.

You may have to take a couple of professional classes to be exceptional at it.

5. Baker

I like to think of baking as the sugary, edible form of sculpting because it is.

As a baker you are going to be sculpting but this time with mounds of flour. And the best part is the possibilities are endless.

As a person with ADHD, this career choice is certainly one you would be glad you made if you love pastries and eating.

You can bake as many pastries as you like, from cakes to doughnuts, cupcakes, pies, scones, bread, etc…. The best part is there are so many recipes to try and choose from.

If you decide to take up baking as a career, you can learn at an academy or even from videos of other bakers on YouTube.

But no matter where or how you learn, consistency is the key to becoming an expert.

6. Event Planner

This is one of the great careers for people with ADHD that allows them to focus on one task at a time, while still being largely creative and active.

Your creativity and problem-solving skills come into play as often as possible as an event planner.

For every event you plan, you get to unleash a whole lot of creative vigor that will have you feeling exhausted and fulfilled at the same time.

You can also decide to plan only weddings, birthdays, or engagements….. The ball is in your court.

7. Painter

Although most people would confuse this as the same career as being an artist they are quite similar.

A painter is simply an artist who uses walls as their canvas.

Painting is a good career to consider if you want to create murals and special art that will be seen by tons of people every day.

You can use painting as a way to communicate, send a message, or even raise awareness on different things.

It is a great way to explore your creative side and impact people.

8. Florist

Flowers are a great way to improve the mood and concentration of people who struggle with ADHD.

Studies show that plants in general can help reduce stress and boost dopamine levels, making this a good career choice for people with ADHD.

Being a florist also allows you to show your creative side as you would need to be very creative with flower arrangements.

If you love gardening this is also a big plus, as you can grow your own flowers while enjoying the beauty of nature.
