How To Be Disciplined AF in 12 Simple Steps

How To Be Disciplined

Discipline is the backbone of success. It’s what separates the dreamers from the doers.

If you’re serious about becoming the first success story in your family history. You’ll need discipline.

And the good news is that discipline can be learned with the right mindset and techniques.

In this article, we’ll share how to be disciplined in 12 easy steps. Let’s jump right in!

How To Be Disciplined

1. Set Clear Goals:

Discipline starts with a clear idea of what you want to achieve.

Setting SMART goals (Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-focused) will help you understand exactly what you’re working towards.

These goals act as your roadmap, offering a sense of direction.

Defining your goals creates a foundation for disciplined movement, whether it’s a career, financial, or personal development goal.

2. Create a Routine:

Routines provide structure and remove the guesswork from your day.

Establish a daily routine that aligns with your goals. Allocate time for work and play.

Following a consistent routine trains your mind to be disciplined and decreases the likelihood of procrastination.

3. Be Clear on your Priorities:

Not all responsibilities are created equal. Learn to differentiate between urgent and non-urgent tasks.

The Eisenhower Matrix is a helpful tool for prioritization, categorizing tasks into four quadrants: urgent, non-urgent, important, and not important.

Focus your energy on actions that align with your dreams and directly impact your success.

4. Practice Time Management:

Discipline and time management go hand in hand. Break your day into workable chunks and allocate time to particular sports.

Use time management techniques like the Pomodoro Technique, which includes 25-minute stretches of focused work separated by five-minute breaks.

Longer breaks, typically 15 to 30 minutes, are taken after four consecutive work intervals.

You can also explore time management apps that can help guide your focus.

5. Create Good Habits:

Discipline goes beyond hard work or wild dreams; it’s a lifestyle. Do your habits support your dreams?

Healthy habits contribute to your physical and mental well-being, creating a space for you to flourish.

Regular exercise, diet and sleep are key factors that fuel your body and mind, allowing you to thrive.

6. Stay Accountable:

Regular check ins about your progress can provide valuable insights and encouragement.

Take time out to evaluate how you’re progressing towards your goals.

Reflecting on your journey will help keep you accountable.

7. Embrace the Power of Consistency:

Consistency is the name of the game when it comes to discipline.

Small daily actions might seem insignificant. However, they compound over the years, leading to massive results. Embrace the idea that success is a marathon, not a sprint.

Even when you’re feeling unmotivated, sticking to your good habits builds resilience and strengthens your discipline muscle.

8. Learn from Mistakes:

No journey is without setbacks. Setbacks aren’t a sign of failure.

They are opportunities to learn and grow.

When faced with challenges, examine the situation objectively.

What went wrong? What can I do to improve the situation?

The potential to bounce back from setbacks is what sets apart disciplined people.

9. Develop a Growth Mindset:

Embracing a growth mindset lets you see tough situations as learning opportunities.

In life, you may not always win, but at least you’ll learn.

This mindset shift allows you to approach everything as a chance to grow.

10. Surround Yourself With Good Examples:

Is your social circle filled with disciplined people?

Becoming disciplined means being surrounded by people with discipline.

Because your environment plays a major role in shaping your behaviors.

Get around people who inspire you. Look for mentors and role models who embody a disciplined life.

11. Celebrate Small Wins:

Celebrate your achievements on the road to becoming disciplined, no matter how small.

Recognizing your progress boosts morale and reinforces the behaviors you want to see.

Set milestones along the way and have fun with every accomplishment.

Whether it’s finishing a project or learning a new skill

Celebrations remind you that your goal of becoming more disciplined is within reach.

12. Learn The Art of Delayed Gratification:

Being able to delay gratification is at the heart of being disciplined.

If you’re obsessed with overnight results, this journey may not be for you.

Always think long-term when setting goals for yourself. Look for progress.

But be patient with the results. Develop an ‘overtime vs overnight’ mindset.

If you can master this skill, you will become a disciplined person in no time.
